What If?
“Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says:“But in fact we have done it for fear, for a reason, saying, ‘In time to come your descendants may speak to our descendants, saying, What have you to do with the Lord God of Israel?” Joshua 22:24
After the conquest of possessing the Promise Land, the children of Israel that chose to live on the other side of the Jordan, separate from the majority, decided out of fear to build a replica altar. They feared not of the immediate consequence, but rather, their sights were set on the “what if’s” of the future.
This is a common agent of Satan, to cause God’s people to have fear for their future. What’s going to happen to my finances, my living conditions, our children, our jobs, etc? This same fear caused the children of Israel to do something that could have cost them their lives. Satan wants to take our eyes off of the life and victory we have in Jesus today and put them on the “What if’s” of the future. The result of this caused the children of Israel to do something that was against God’s Word.
Jesus said in Matthew 6:25, “Do not worry about your life…” You see, only He knows the future. Put your future back in His hands; trust Him, that He has it all under control. Take heed to not react to the lies of the enemy that can lead to making bad decisions for today. Joshua 23:14 says, “Behold, this day…knowing in all your hearts and in all your souls, that not one thing hath failed of all the good things which the Lord your God spake concerning you…”
