“Why do you call Me Lord, Lord and not do what I tell you?” Luke 6:46
I think we should all take a moment and ponder the words of this verse. What is God saying to you? Look at this next verse. “Truly, Truly I say to you, if anyone keeps my word, he will never see death.” (John 8:51) God is calling us to obedience. If we are keeping God’s Word, why are there so few workers out in the field? (Matthew 9:37, Luke 10:2)
Remember that God is more than able if you are willing! “If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land.” (Isaiah 1:19) Isaiah was assuring us that God would cause us to prosper if we are willing to obey Him. There is a key in this next verse, see if you can find it. “And every work that he undertook in the service of the house of God and in accordance with the law and the commandments, seeking his God, he did with all his heart and prospered.” (2 Chronicles 31:21) Did you see the key? If you are serving God half-heartedly, then half your heart is serving another. “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.” (Matthew 6:24) “Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God?” (James 4:4) Listen to Peter’s and the apostles answer. “We must obey God rather than men.” (Acts 5:29)
Lord, let that be my answer. My prayer is that it would be your answer also! Let’s get busy doing the Lord’s work.
