Summer is over and vacations have ended, kids are back to school. Do we just go on as usual with our routines or continue to hold to the fact that Jesus is coming? One thing is true, we need to Watch and Pray. In Matthew 24:27 it says, “For just as the lightning comes from the east and flashes even to the west so will the coming of the Son of Man be.”

It’s interesting, lightning is fast pace and swift, a good example of the Lord’s return. There will be no time to get things right with Him or make things right with others. Lightning is incredibly swift, a spark from cloud to cloud can be twenty to one hundred miles long. The Lord Jesus is coming at the speed of a lightning flash. It will be in a moment or twinkling of an eye. It will be a happy moment for His own and a horrendous moment for His foes.

Lightning can be deadly, as with sheet lightning. It has no particular form; it is just a bright flash in the sky. But the forked lightning comes charged with millions of volts of electrical power. Jesus is coming like that, swiftly and in power. Knowing these things then how should we be living?

Matthew 24:42-44 says, “Therefore be on alert for you do not know which day your Lord is coming. But be sure of this; that if the head of the house had known at what time of the night the thief was coming, he would have been on the alert and would not have allowed his house to be broken into. For this reason, you also must be ready, for the Son of man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will.”

So, get ready, keep praying and stay in the Word, for one of these days He will come and we’ll be gone! What a glorious day that will be.
