Keep Looking to the Word
We can see the news in the paper or watch it on TV and we get a sense of all that is happening in our world. It can get us downright weary of the struggles that comes from living our faith in a fallen world. But, growing weary shouldn’t surprise us. The apostle Paul’s encouragement to the Galatians was also meant for us. “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap, if we do not lose heart.” (Galatians 6:9) Paul speaks of a promise that comes with instruction. He lets us know that there is a great benefit that comes with not growing weary and not giving up. In God’s perfect timing we will reap. The hard work, the toil, the frustration, it will all be worth it.
Paul’s promise is one that should encourage each of us in ministry or in life. But, if you are feeling weary, check your lack of devotion to the Lord, your lack of prayer and your lack of nourishment. As it says in Matt 4:4, “Man doesn’t live by bread alone but by every Word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” Then we wait on the Lord to get the strength we need for each day.
“But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31
