PASTORS PERSPECTIVE

The People of God Will Care for Orphans

“Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this, to visit the orphans.” James 1:27a

This past weekend my family and I, along with some students from our school, had the privilege of visiting our orphanage in Mexico. This verse came alive, we were able to live it. We all came to give, but we received far more than what we gave. Without speaking the language, we were able to communicate. Did you know that LOVE is an international language? We played, we prayed, and God just kept pouring out His Spirit upon us.

Paul wrote how he worked to provide for himself and for others. He showed us in many ways, by laboring like this, that we must support the weak, the orphans. Always remember what Jesus said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” When Paul said these things, he knelt and prayed with them all. (Acts 20:34-36)

Let’s pray for the orphans, the foster kids and the widows. Let’s practice pure Christianity. Love God love each other.
