PASTORS PERSPECTIVE

The Treatment We Deserve

“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.” Philippians 2:5-8

Oh how much noise have we heard over the last few decades about people’s rights! And it seems that the most privileged parts of the world are the ones complaining the loudest. People become experts at finding new reasons to feel offended or pretend to be offended.

How quick are we to claim we are not treated well?

There is truly One person who did not get the treatment He deserved while walking on this earth: Jesus! From the manger, all the way to the cross.

He deserved to be received in the best conditions, to be worshiped and served by all, wherever He went. Even then, man would still have fallen short to give Him all the glory and honor due His name.

Prophecy had to be fulfilled as God in His wisdom, love, mercy and grace found a way to redeem mankind. That was at the cost of the life of His only begotten Son – the One in Whom He was well pleased.

People usually fight for their rights and hide from their duties. Jesus Christ laid down His rights and took on our duties.

How thankful should we be for this beautiful exchange. He endured the treatment we deserved: the death on the cross, to give us what we do not deserve: eternal life.
