PASTORS PERSPECTIVE

Happy Mother’s Day!

As I read through the Old Testament, I see how the first generation of Joshua and David was a generation of dedication and commitment. Then, I see the compromise of the second generation of the elders and Solomon. Finally, the third generation ends in conflict and bondage with Judges and Rehoboam. What a sad situation.

My heart is grieved as I see the first generation know God and His power, and then the second generation just knows God. But my heart breaks, as I know God’s does also, as the third generation neither knows God nor His power.

My cry is, “O God, how can we stop this deterioration and decline of our experience to our kids and grandkids, so they won’t end up in bondage and captivity?” God’s answer is through the “passing-it-on” principle - by handing over the baton through example and experience so that our kids, and our kids’ kids, will know God and His power.

This is what happened to Timothy in 2 Timothy 1:5 & 3:15,

“When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that is in thee also... And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”

Moms, we know the hand that rocks the cradle has the lion’s share of influence. So today, we honor you! Pastor Jeff and Karyn
