Happy Father’s Day!

Dads, have you ever heard, “As you were raised, so will you raise your kids!” I didn’t appreciate how my dad raised me (I know he did what he was trained to do by his dad), but he wasn’t a Christian father. When I came to the Lord, “All things are new. . .” I made a commitment to raise my kids in the ways of the Lord!

“And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.” Ephesians 6:4 KJV

I realized I couldn’t give the excuse “like father, like son.” The Bible says, “The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge. As I live, saith the Lord GOD, ye shall not have occasion any more to use this proverb in Israel. Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.” Ezekiel 18:2b-4 KJV. I knew I was now responsible, and I took my mandate seriously to train up my children in the way they should go! (Proverbs 22:6). Now looking back, although there is some regret, He is their Father now and I did my best, so now I must commit the rest!

Dads don’t be weary in well doing – you will reap what you’ve sown! It’s true. I’ll never forget that one Father’s Day getting this scripture from my kids in Proverbs 17:6, “Children’s children are the crown of old men, and the glory of children is their father.” So, Dads, keep up your commitment to the Lord to do your part and God will do His!

“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.” 3 John 4 KJV

Happy Father’s Day,
