In The Hours of Discouragement, God Is Our Encouragement
“Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
Jesus, the rejected King and Messiah, was sent to the lost sheep in the house of Israel. For the first time in history
Jesus opened the door to a lost gentile world with a simple, but powerful message to all. To the lost He gives a gift of direction to be found with a promise of rest. As for myself, I accepted this gift 57 years ago.
The Greek term “rest” means peace. To know Jesus is to know peace. No Jesus no peace. In Philippians 4:7 Paul writes, “and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds through Jesus Christ.”
To be at peace with God is to experience the peace of God. I’m so thankful that after all these years He still calls me to come to Him with all my cares.
So, in happy moments praise Him. In difficult moments seek Him. In quiet moments worship Him. In painful moments trust Him. But, in every moment come to Him and He will fulfill His promise to give you rest. Will you come to Him as He calls you today?
